Black Tuesday

In addition to Red Friday, we now declare Blue Monday, Black Tuesday, and unofficially, Wednesday and Thursday is 'your choice', but 3 showed up Wednesday in Pink! Some of the guys 'balked' at pink on Wednesday, but the girls will probably wear pink. Carolyn said she was wearing purple on Thursday, so I did too. I don't know if it will be officially Purple Thursday, but again, it's your choice! You know Mondays has always been called Blue Monday. I think this originated way back when our mother's always washed on Mondays, and it was not that much fun, especially in the cold wintertime. I remember that old "Poppin' Johnny'' washing machine that had to be cranked like a motorcycle. It had a gasoline engine and it made that popping sound all the time it was going. Mother had to build a fire under the old black washpot, and then carry water in buckets and pour into the old pot. (It's the same old pot she made lye soap in). Anyway when the water got hot, then she had to carry it over to the washer. She had 2 big tubs for rinse water which she carried buckets of water and poured into them. Like I said, it was a fun day. The kids helped pull the clothes through the old wringer and into the rinse tubs. Then we helped hang them on the clothes lines. This was for a family of 10!! Also, the sheets were washed every Monday. In the evenings, providing it hadn't rained or snowed and froze the clothes to the lines, we gathered them all in and folded and put away. Then all the beds had to be made up, and we didn't have wash and wear clothes. Everything had to be ironed, which was done on Tuesdays. I can't think of a better reason to call Tuesdays Black Tuesdays, but that is not why we started calling it Black Tuesdays. I believe it started with 2008 Election Day!! I believe Dave mentioned wearing black on Tuesdays, and so it is!! The picture above is Carolyn and Pete in their Tuesday black suits. We all have a good time and enjoy things that liven up the exercise routines at the "Wilderness Center", ha!

There's only one person there (Joe) who is older'n me, and we both came from a ranching background. We remember when we didn't have electricity, and I know Joe remembers the hard work, and hardships. We were all 'pore' but didn't know it cause everybody was 'pore'. Speaking of age, I'm so old that whenever I eat out, they ask me for money up front!

The snap, crackle and pop you hear in the mornings, is not my Rice Krispies! Sometimes I wake up Grumpy and sometimes I let him sleep!

I'm retired - I was tired yesterday and I'm tired again today! I was at the Beauty Shop 2 hours, and that was only for the estimate! We married for better or for worse - he couldn't do better and I couldn't do worse! The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age.

Birds of a feather flock together - and then crap on your car!
